My Day

Although I talk about my life in this blog I don't often chronicle what happens in an entire day. I started the day at 4:40 a.m. and was out the door at 5:08 a.m. to go to my Tuesday morning Bible study. It was good to meet with the guys from my church (Pastor Chuck, Mark, Larry, Robert) and catch up after taking two weeks off for the holidays. We quizzed each other on our memory passage (1 Peter 3:8-18) and discussed 1 Thessalonians chapter 2. After our study ended I drove to Stater Brothers to get a few items (snacks/drinks) to help me get through the work day. The work day started at 7 a.m. with my zero period class and I went straight through for the next 6 periods until 12:50 when lunchtime came. I had a Jenny Craig chicken meal. It wasn't that great, but hey the Jenny meals have helped me lose 60 pounds so far, so at least they work. I then chalked the baseball field in preparations for our game this afternoon (I coach the middle school baseball team at my school). We played a game at 3:15 and ended up winning the game. Two of my players went down with injuries. I just got word that one of them has a broken ankle and the other looked like might have broken his finger. So even though we won, it feels more like a loss. I didn't like seeing these young guys get hurt. I happened to get in the car to head home at 5:08 p.m. (remember my start time?). Now I am lounging at home with a blanket covering myself (our game got me pretty cold). Most days are like today (minus middle school boys getting hurt). I read some good stuff in the Bible and got through the work day. I am thankful for my job. I have known the bitterness of losing a job you love, so I am thankful to be employed. Praise to God for the fellowship, the job, and the warmth of home at the end of a cold day.
