The Block

I randomly decided to drive us to the Block at Orange for our Friday night evangelism outreach tonight. We passed out all of our gospel tracts and were able to have some good conversations. The highlight was my conversation with young men named Abdiel and Devon. After I explained the gospel to them they said they wanted to put their faith in Christ right then and there. After I asked them a few questions to make sure they understood what was happening we prayed and I was able to share with them their need for reading the Bible (I gave them a living waters "Gospel of John" book), getting baptized, and getting plugged into a church. Devon told me that his parents take him to church, so I encouraged Abdiel to attend church with Devon. Hopefully the church he is going to is solid. On the drive home I was reminded of this passage from Scripture:

Luke 15:4-7

"What man among you, if he has a hundred sheep and has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open pasture and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? When he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!' I tell you that in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance."

Glad that I got to share the good news with these young men and that they came to Christ! I also had a very good conversation with two guys named Armando and Rudy. I was able to encourage them at the end of our conversation to "get right with God before you left your head hit your pillow this evening". It was a good night. Nicole and I remarked to each other at the end of the night how ripe the harvest was tonight. It was a shame that it was just the two of us out! Hopefully the Lord will send a few people our way on a consistent basis.
