A little over a week ago I turned 32. This was my second birthday since my father died (he died on May 2, 2010). The new normal is that he will not be there for any birthday celebration that I have until my life is finished. I looked back at a blog I wrote a few years ago (Catch You Later, Bye) and it got me misty eyed as I remembered my dad.
There is a picture of my nephew Jake asleep on his chest and it made me sad to think that he will never hold a grandson or granddaughter from Nicole and me. It pains me to think that he never got to see Nicole and me turned on to having a heart for the nations. It pains me that he never got to see my brother Aaron come back to the Lord (I have much pain and anguish over this matter as well). It pains me to see an empty chair at the table when we go out for a meal as a family or come together for a holiday feast. It pains me to see my mom having to pick up the pieces and keep pressing forward without the husband she had by her side for all those years.
Though we experience pain there is hope. One of my favorite hymns has a verse that I love. It goes like this -

Though we experience pain there is hope. One of my favorite hymns has a verse that I love. It goes like this -
"My hope is built on nothing lessThan Jesus’ blood and righteousness;I dare not trust the sweetest frame,But wholly lean on Jesus’ name.
As I read in the book of Isaiah this morning I was comfort. Here is what comforted me.On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand; All other ground is sinking sand,All other ground is sinking sand."
Isaiah 25:8-9“He will swallow up death for all time,And the Lord GOD will wipe tears away from all faces,And He will remove the reproach of His people from all the earth; For the LORD has spoken. And it will be said in that day,‘Behold, this is our God for whom we have waited that He might save us.This is the LORD for whom we have waited;Let us rejoice and be glad in His salvation.’”
Here are a few blogs I've written which explain how you can have the same hope that I have.
