My pride always is my worst enemy.
My pride says "I deserve better than this."
My pride says "I am smarter than that person."
My pride says "It is okay for me to be angry."
My pride says "It is okay to tell this one little lie, nobody will know."
My pride says "It is okay to do or think this sin."
My pride asks "What is in this for me?"
1 Peter 5:5 "You younger men, likewise, be subject to your elders; and all of you, clothe yourselves with humility towards one another, for God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble."
Proverbs 8:13 "The fear of the Lord is to hate evil; pride and arrogance and the evil way and the perverted mouth I hate."
Proverbs 13:10 "Through insolence (arrogance/pride) comes nothing but strife, but wisdom is with those who receive counsel."
Philippians 2:3-11
"Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. If I am going to follow Jesus and His example I need to have NO pride. Tough challenge, but is it worth it? I think it is. What about you? Is pride something you struggle with?
