Over the past three Friday nights Nicole and I have gone to Knott's Berry Farm to pass out tracts at their annual "Halloween Haunt". Normally I enjoy talking to people, but the opportunity to pass out so many tracts to people as they enter into the "Halloween Haunt" is too great of an opportunity to pass up. We passed out over two thousand tracts between the two of us over the past three Friday nights. Here is a sample of what the back of our tracts say:

Knock Knock, Knock, TRICK OR TREAT!!! Every Halloween, kids go trick-or-treating to get lots of candy. Many people are also "tricked" into thinking they will be good enough to go to Heaven when they die . The real trick is to know if you are good enough to go to Heaven when you die. God gave us His Ten Commandments to help us see how good we really are. Look at a few and see how you will do. Have you ever lied? Have you always obeyed your parents? The Bible says if you hate someone, it's just like committing murder. Have you ever taken anything that didn't belong to you? The Commandments show us how bad we really are, and the standard that we will be tested by when we die. On that day, God will punish all people who have broken any of the Ten Commandments. They will be sent to a place called ‘Hell’ - a really bad place where you don't want to go. Even though that‘s a scary thought, there is GOOD NEWS! God in His mercy loves you so much that He made a way for you to be forgiven before Judgment Day so you don’t have to be punished. Even though we have lied, stolen, disobeyed our parents and even hated someone (any of these done even once means we have broken the Ten Commandments). God still made a way for us to be forgiven! God sent His son Jesus Christ down to earth. He lived a perfect life. Then He went to the cross and died for our sins. He took the punishment we deserve. Then after 3 days Jesus rose from the grave defeating death! So what can you do? The Bible says you should put your faith in what Jesus did on the cross - stop believing that being “good” will get you to heaven! Then you should stop doing the things that displease God. The Bible says that God will give you a new heart that will want to obey God and do what He wants you to do. Then get out your Bible, read it every day and obey what you read.

If you have neighborhood kids that come to your day for candy you should consider giving them a gospel tract with the piece of candy you give them for Halloween!
